Sites of Missouri Part III

So it is time to post again. I can't seem to get all the pictures and captions lined up on one post like I wanted so this is a three-part post with Part III being first. Starting at the bottom, we visited the Cameron Train Depot. It was used until the 1950's when the train was diverted around Cameron. Back in the day, there were quite a few trains passing through Cameron daily. The depot has been restored to its hay day condition. It contained many artifacts of the period. They are only open in the summer from 1-4 PM on the weekends but we were promised a personal tour if my brother Bruce comes to visit.

Then I took some pictures of sites in Cameron including the Walmart because--as those of you who know us--having a Walmart close by is our definition of civilization. The population of Cameron is near 10,000 but we have been told that counts the prison population of about 3,000. We'll take what we can get!

Finally we visited the Kansas City Zoo. We had been told that the zoo has a bad reputation. We're not sure what that means--is the zoo loose, easy, and/or drunk? The funny thing is the people who said the zoo had a bad rep haven't even been to the zoo. We had a nice time. It's a fine zoo. We've been to better--the Omaha zoo, namely. We've been to worse--no names. It's very spread out with lots of trees, and they've created some nice habitats for the animals. Some of the exhibits are old school--small cages etc. but overall we didn't get the impression that we were in danger nor were the animals. Lindsey recently hurt her ankle in volleyball practice so we rented a wheelchair to push her around. She hated that. We doesn't do well as a cripple. Jordan tried his arms on propelling himself. He couldn't make it up a small incline so a complete stranger helped him. We all laughed at his misfortune!
